Head of Legal (EMI / PSP)

About the Role

EMI and payment services provider is hiring a Head of Legal to lead the legal function across its EMI/PSP and Canada MSB operations. Proven in-house legal experience at a licensed EMI or PSP and strong knowledge of PSD2/EMD2 and Canadian MSB regulation (FINTRAC, PCMLTFA) required. Bar admission not required. Russian is an advantage. €6,000 – €9,000 gross/month. Riga, UK, or EU remote with regular travel.

Requirements

• Proven in-house legal experience at a licensed EMI or PSP — mandatory
• Strong working knowledge of PSD2 and EMD2 — mandatory
• Strong working knowledge of Canadian MSB regulation, including FINTRAC requirements and the PCMLTFA — mandatory
• Bar admission is not required
• Fluent English — written and spoken
• Russian is an advantage

Responsibilities

• Lead the legal function across the EMI/PSP and Canada MSB operations
• Manage regulatory licensing, regulator correspondence and change-of-control filings
• Draft and negotiate partner, banking, card scheme and client agreements
• Provide legal input on AML/CTF, safeguarding and outsourcing frameworks
• Monitor regulatory change across the EU, UK and Canada and assess its impact on the business
• Coordinate external counsel
